Discreet Notes

An installable notepad where the text you type stays invisible — only the word count moves. Everything is stored locally and works offline.Creator · Live · July 11, 2026

The Discreet Notes editor: an almost blank page with a climbing word count, the typed text rendered transparent.
Discreet Notes lets you write with the text hidden on screen. The editor makes text transparent while keeping the cursor and word count visible. You can reveal your notes or adjust their opacity when you want to read them. I built it for taking notes in meetings, journaling in public, or writing while sharing a screen. Notes are saved in the browser's IndexedDB rather than sent to a backend. A service worker caches the application so it can run offline after the initial visit. The app does not require an account.
  • Invisible-text editor — a Tiptap rich-text editor whose content is rendered transparent in discreet mode, with an opacity slider for partial visibility in reading mode.
  • Autosave — saves 2 seconds after you stop typing, instantly on Ctrl/Cmd+S, with a quiet saved/saving/unsaved indicator in a toolbar that hides itself while you scroll.
  • A floating search dock — live full-text search across all notes and a one-tap new-note button, designed mobile-first with safe-area handling.
  • Installable PWA — add to home screen on iOS or Android and it behaves like a native app, offline included.
